Spending time to photograph adoptable pets for our friends at Animal Friends for Education and Welfare the past year and a half has been really an amazing experience. To see these dogs come in, usually at best found stray in the street, at worse…..well, worse. Then to see then slowly transform, how they enjoy their time with the volunteers and then ultimately to find their forever homes has been really special to see.
In that time, I’ve had the opportunity to speak with a lot of folks who often mention their interest in helping animals in need like these, but who, for a variety of reasons, don’t either the time or ability to foster, do walks at the shelter, transport to adoption days, etc. Well, have we got news for you!
I recently learned about an app called WoofTrax. In a nutshell, you download the free app, set it up, and then activate it on your smartphone each time you take your dog for a walk. For each mile you walk your own dog or dogs, Wooftrax keeps track and makes a donation per mile to a shelter or rescue of your choosing. I hope you’ll use these links to check out this app, and remember that our friends from AFEW have just applied to be a beneficiary of the program.
What a cool way to help a local rescue and animals in need by walking your own dog in your own neighborhood. Can’t get easier than that!
Until next time…..
